Out With The Old

Today Aaron started to take out the OLD kitchen cabs. For those of you who are just tuning into our remodeling adventures, we moved our kitchen to what used to be one of the org. bedrooms in our little cottage. It was built in 1937 and we have every reason to believe that the small, tiny set of kitchen cabs is what the man who build this house put in. He was a single blacksmith who had a glorious garden and could tat better then many woman. This is, of course to the stories of the old timers who knew him.  For one man, the old kitchen was suitable. Put a small table in there and it would be perfect. For our family of 5, it was way too small.

The house used to be a rental before we bought it, and one of the org bedrooms (where the kitchen is now) was opened up to make the living room larger. The old kitchen was actually part of the hall way, since it was the only way to the back out the house (bath and bedrooms).

Here is the old set of cabs:

Door right where Aaron is goes to the back door, the cab bank is about 8 foot total. This was IT for cabs.

The size of the old kitchen and the new kitchen are almost the same (8 1/2 x 11 1/2), but moving it to the other other side of the house, makes a huge difference! The new feels so much bigger.  Also adding in the new window also brought in so much light! We will also replace the window in the old kitchen, which will be the NEW dinning room! When we are finished with the kitchen/dinning the whole kitchen, living, dinning room (front of the house) will be very open.
