"I believe the nicest and sweetest days are not those on which anything very splendid or wonderful or exciting happens, but just those that bring simple little pleasures, following one another softly, like pearls slipping off a string."

The Almost Trip

The creek we camped by!

While camping with Mom, we got to thinking that we should try to camp once more this year, before the weather got chilly. After talking some more, it was decided that we would backpack.

Our little "Camp" we made coffee and top roman and the kids ran and played! All in all not a bad place to "camp" for a few hours.

We started looking online and found a trail, leading up to a lake that was a 2 mile hike. We dug out the back packs and all the gear and for a few days it looked like REI threw up in my living room.

Wednesday morning came and we headed out. Our battery was not holding a charge on the car, and we didnt want a dead battery awating us on our hike back down on Friday or Saturday (Andrews birthday) so we stopped and picked up a new one.

The trail head was about 2 1/2 hours away from our house, but its a lovely drive and the kids had fun looking at something new. We start down the dirt road to find the USFS road leadingt o the trail.

We find it while no problems. Although right away the road starts going UP...and up and up we go. A good ways up (maybe 5-8 miles) our car starts to over heat. We stop, it cools off pretty quickly. Aaron tinkers with some things and cant seem to figure out why it would be over heating. As we get going again, it heats up almost right away. Aaron checks again, I let the dogs out to go potty and he sees fluids spewing out of something.  We load the dogs back up. Aaron gets the car turned around and we coast down the hill, with out turning on the rig. Thank God we had cell service at the bottom of the hill and we called for help. Long story short, Aaron's wonderful parents brought the truck and rented car dolly and we got the car home. It was the Tranny and it was a clogged filter.  We dont know why we were not able to go, but maybe God was protecting us. Aaron has a wild story about 10 grizzles around the lake. I totally believe him!
The End

  1. Those grizzlies might be a good reason! I love that you trust that He knows! :)
