Floors and Tile

My Counter tile is here!

Sorry that is picture is dark, but I didn't want the flash lightening the green color any, so you all could see it closer to what it really is!

Yesterday we took a tip into town and Kathleen met us at Lowes so we could use the truck (THANKS!). We bought all the rest of the dry wall, cement board for the floor and some 2x4's for finish the small wall framing. She also helped my pick out what thin set and grout, etc I needed for my floors and counters. I already have my tile for the floors and the tile for the counters is being delivered later today. I will post pictures a bit later. It's so pretty! I also picked up am range hood and fixed a mistake on my counter order.
Aaron had all the wood floors up and moisture barrier laid down so that when we picked up the cement board we could just lay it down. The sub flooring in our old house is 12 inchx2 inch rough cut lumber. Thick! And would be quite a bit of $$$ these days! There are gaps in between the lumber, just enough to allow a nice draft before the plastic was laid down, and even then, it was still COLD!  We also decided to do this when we had single digit temps at night, and not much better during the day. Thank God for heaters, slippers and quilts to cuddle in! :) Aaron got over 1/2 the cement board down last night and is plugging away at the rest! The girls are spending a couple night's with Grandma and Grandpa and it's just Andrew and I helping Daddy. They were so excited, and Clara just didn't get that Grandma would want to drink a cup of coffee before she headed home yesterday evening!

Going from new kitchen to old. I took this so you could see the wood sub flooring I explained above. You can also see one piece of the cement board. We are going the 1/2 inch think stuff, instead of the 1/4 inch.

Coming along. Aaron got even more done after I took the picture. The large (5 foot) opening to the old kitchen is now all cement boarded in!  Aaron only has a strip along where the smaller opening will be into the living area, and under the window. This should go pretty quickly, and then we will frame in the two smaller walls and sheet rock! The large plug you see is where the range goes.
