"I believe the nicest and sweetest days are not those on which anything very splendid or wonderful or exciting happens, but just those that bring simple little pleasures, following one another softly, like pearls slipping off a string."

Today we are home, not a planned home Sabbath, but Aaron woke up feel awful with a head cold. I love it when he gets a cold....not that I like seeing him miserable, but his voice get really deep and I just love it. :)

Yesterday, after the photo shoot we headed to a you pick farm. We came home with close to 40 lbs of pickling and eating cucumbers, some beets, a bunch of dill weed, 2 gals of blueberries and some tomatoes.

The kids are great helpers when picking (and stuffing washed cucs into jars!) and of course charm the owners with their sweet manners and questions! :)

When we got home I started in with making pickles. 16 qts processed last night, and that didn't even touch 1/2 of what we picked! The rest will be done Sunday. I am so thankful to be able to put up yummy things my family loves (and devours at an alarming rate). My pantry and freezer are getting filled. I find the work hot, but also totally rewarding.

  1. Totally worth it, I agree! The pickles look great! Hope everyone is feeling well now!
