"I believe the nicest and sweetest days are not those on which anything very splendid or wonderful or exciting happens, but just those that bring simple little pleasures, following one another softly, like pearls slipping off a string."

Owning A St. Bernard

So, a little bit ago I did a thing, inspired by Pioneer Woman, on having a Basset Hound. I only thought it fair to do one on having a St. Bernard. I wouldn't want Lyla not to feel loved!

She is BIG, as in 180lbs at 15 months BIG. While very careful with she front end around the kids, she will forget about her rump and knock said kids down. Then feel very sorry for it afterwords and lick said kids in face.

While riding in the car, or sitting on the couch or chair, she will try to climb in your lap, and will need to be reminded of her manners and size.

She is the perfect nanny and will check on the kids a few times every night.

She drools.

A LOT! ( but not as much as some St. Bernard's do I guess)

She eats. A lot. We are going from one bag of dog food every two months or so, to two (or so) bags a MONTH! A lot but so worth it!

Its important to remember not to put anything exciting for a dog on the counter with in her reach...which is most of the counter.

When its hot, we have to fill up her BIG bowl of water at least 7 times.

While Millie is Clara and Aaron's dog. Lyla has bonded with me. Most animals bind with Aaron, but we were hoping she would bond with me. She also dearly loves Andrew.

We love both our dogs, they are perfect for our family! It's also VERY funny to watch a Basset Hound and St. Bernard play!

  3. Annie, thanks! She is a love. I love having a dog that is MINE! :D

As for the picture. On your "dashboard" click on design, where you would change the templet for the back ground of the blog. Where you have the title of your blog, click on edit. You should see a place to add a photo. Remember to save it! :)
